 Pastor Gerald Marvel passed away peacefully on December 7, 2007, surrounded by his family. We miss him dearly and remember with gratitude the vital role he played in the establishment and growth of LIVE Ministries. Prior to his death, he wrote the following wonderful support letter:
Dear Friend:
Over 30 years ago, LIVE Ministries got its start in the church that I pastored in Vancouver, Washington. It has been my personal blessing to watch this important lay ministry grow over the years and to be a part of that growth by serving on the Steering Committee.
Today, LIVE Ministries is perhaps the single most important lay ministry affiliated with the Church of God. This ministry's focus is on church and individual renewal in Christ. Over 1200 souls have come to a personal knowledge of our Savior and many thousands have rededicated their lives to the Lord through Live Weekends! I won't take a lot of time in this letter to explain further. You can find more details throughout this web site.
Today, LIVE Ministries reaches around the world. We currently have invitations to bring our unique ministry to Central America, Asia, Europe and Eastern Europe as well as the United States and Canada. We maintain operations with a very small staff housed in the Vancouver church. In previous mailings you have met our Executive Director, Gary Cowles. He brings his powerful skills and personal leadership style back to us after ten years of ministry in a local church. He is guiding LIVE Ministries into exciting new areas.
Today, LIVE Ministries is preparing for its annual and most expensive event. God willing, we will open each day of the North American Convention of the Church of God in Indiana with a powerful service of celebration. We expect to attract over 3000 people to our big, red and white tent. We will be celebrating what God has done in local congregations during the past year.
Today, I wish I could call each of you to emphasize the great power of LIVE Ministries and the very great need we have for your personal financial and prayer support. I am asking that you consider a regular donation to LIVE Ministries which would allow us to continue to answer our call from God. Personally, my wife, Rena, and I are making the largest financial commitment that we have ever made to LIVE Ministries at this time.
