God's Great Presence in Indonesia!
The Holy Spirit met the LIVE International team at every stop in a very busy two weeks, July 16 – Aug. 1. Landing in Jakarta after 40 hours of delayed connections and long hours on the tarmac, Coordinator Lowell Lux and team members Nathan Lux, Nancy Keeran and Diane Edwards joined up with Pastor Andre Machel, Calw Germany and our angel guide and translator, Megawati Taufik.
Then it was on to beautiful Bali for several days of visits to churches, orphanages and pastor meetings. The team participated in some emotional worship times that brought tears, moving beyond the language barrier.
Elma, Washington Church of God already knew Nancy Keeran was a kind of superwoman. She proved it as a LIVE Weekend local chairperson in late February.
She stepped out of her comfortable box and signed on as a team member with Friends of Haiti for a secular medical mission to Haiti where she quickly made a new friend. In two remote villages that suffered privation long before the earthquake Nancy spent two weeks of hard work, seeing indescribable need, serving hundreds with her team and being God’s blessing to many hurting souls.
Here's a Challenge For over 33 years hundreds upon hundreds of believers have answered Christ's call to share His love on a LIVE Weekend team. Understandably, most people get that call when they encounter a LIVE Weekend at their home church. They become the building blocks for the teams that have visited well over a thousand churches in the U.S., Canada and around the globe.
Coordinator-Trainee Ruth Bockrandt has been working hard to make certain that Riverbend Church of God, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has a memorable LIVE Weekend. She reports that folks in the church have followed all the suggestions and they are ready!
As often as we travel great distances to share the wonders of God in our lives, Riverbend church is waiting with housing, good food, grand fellowship and the welcome mat is out for the Holy Spirit. Yes, Saskatoon is way out there, but LIVE Weekend team volunteers have always answered the call, often at great sacrifice.
From Death to Life- Beckie's LIVE Weekend Miracle!
Twenty-eight months ago, Beckie Thorson's doctors told her when she would die. Her weight, her advanced non-alcoholic liver disease, her diabetes, her out-of-control blood pressure and other ailments made it impossible for Beckie to even be considered for a life-saving liver transplant. Two, maybe three years at the longest, was all she could expect.
